Preparation of the Ágora Thesaurus of Ancient Philosophy:
steps and pedagogical dimensions

This article proposes the development of an Ancient Philosophy Thesaurus – the Ágora – to be used as a pedagogical teaching tool, which the High School Philosophy teacher can use as a methodological resource for more dynamic and participatory classes. The problem originates from the implications of teaching practice in the current national scenario, marked by political and ideological disputes, as well as the complete adoption of new technologies by students. The research is theoretical in nature and with a qualitative approach, and is configured, according to the means and ends, as bibliographic and descriptive, respectively. To guarantee the structuring of the thesaurus in order to meet the educational aspect, the theory of Textual Linguistics was included, as well as the guidelines for constructing thesauruses based on the bias of researchers and international standardization standards, such as ISO. The methodological stages of the research were divided into four: the selection and choice of bibliographic resources; the survey of terms and attribution of fundamental concepts; the categorization stage that structures the thesaurus descriptors; and the use of THESA software to build the Thesaurus. The conclusion we reach is that Ágora proves to be a powerful educational ally, since the explanatory notes can offer objective definitions of important concepts and philosophical currents, interconnected based on logical-semantic relationships.
