Mining has significant socioeconomic importance and the potential to impact the regional geomorphological configuration. From the demand for new studies on the activity, occurring in the nine municipalities of the Metropolitan Region of Cariri (RMCariri), this work aims to characterize and spatialize mining, correlating it with the geomorphology of RMCariri. The results achieved indicate the historical development of mining since the 17th century, oscillating, but still present in several segments of the municipalities of RMCariri, affecting the geological diversity of the study area and the associated geomorphology, compartmentalized here in its river and inter-river portions. In addition, the mining processes in the region were verified, compiled, and spatialized. The contributions made are the basis for research in development, aiming to know and propose alternatives for mining activities and practices in the Metropolitan Region of Cariri, among other forms of use and occupation, based on geomorphological analysis.
