In this article the author analyses the indigenous history in the context of the historiography produced in Brazil and the State of Mato Grosso do Sul. It is presented the emerging and development of this historiographical trend from the 1900s and its main features in the Postgraduate Program in History (PPGH) of the Universidade Federal da Grande Dourados (UFGD). It is also presented theoretical and methodological discussions on the ethnohistory and its possibilities of application to the knowledge of the history of indigenous peoples in South America.Downloads
