ALIMENTOS DA CAATINGA
Abstract
Traditional knowledge is shared and reproduced through direct dialogue between the individual, his parents and grandparents, or between their children and grandchildren with nature, producing a biocultural heritage that is the result of the relationship between the forms of human individual appropriation, on the reproduction of nature. Using the autobiographical narrative, I transcribe how the ethnic Pankararé of Brejo dos Burgos, municipality of Glória, Bahia, maintained its ethnocultural relations over decades, facing the transformations of the biocultural axiom involving food aspects. Using memories and notes of the training activities that took place over 2 years of the master’s degree in Human Ecology and Socio-Environmental Management by the University of the State of Bahia, I was able to evaluate that the natural environment has great importance for the cultural re-meaning of their traditions and that food plants have great influence in their culture. Ten elders were heard who with their knowledge shared by orality, contributed to the formation of Masters and Doctors. This narrative presents lost habits, which has been reinterpreted and food transformations of the ethnicity in front of the approach with urban centers.
