Abstract

This work follows the theme of previous publications on indigenous candidacies. It registers the opinion of the population of Diamante D'Oeste about the importance of the Guarani indigenous councilor elected there, the first in the West of PR. This is a qualitative analysis of quantitative data in a sample of 95 residents of the municipality (2.08% of the population and 2.52% of the electorate). Opinion was measured by the Likert scale, measuring the importance given to the council, the municipality itself and the indigenous communities. The results indicate that the general population attaches high importance to representation. The indigenous people, specifically, give greater importance than the rest. It also shows the extremes of opinions, with a good part of the opinionators leading by total importance, with a significant number who manifested themselves as neutral and others by total unimportance. With the records collected between the election in 2024 and the beginning of the legislature in 2025, a sample was formed with a time frame and basis for future comparisons in similar ways.
