Abstract

Based on Cultural Geography and Environmental History spatial approaches, this paper intends to analyze the application of opposite territorial management strategies inside Mixed Ombrophilous Forest ecosystem in southern Paraná, Brazil. The investigation sought to find along the historical process of this ecosystem’s occupation two accumulated spatiotemporal aspects that reveal traces of the historical forestry management in the region. The first territorial management applied by the Guarani M'byá ethnic group, and the ecosystem management applied through the colonies of Central Europe immigrants to the region. The main goal of this article is to analyze the historical process of overlapping occupation and land use and forward new perspectives for decolonized strategies for the ecological management of the Mixed Ombrophilous Forest.
