This study aims to investigate the presence of indigenous women in the work of Daiara Tukano, an indigenous artist, through the clipping of the mural “Selva Mãe do Rio Menino”, painted in 2020, in a building in the city of Belo Horizonte-MG. To this end, analyzes of the technical and semantic aspects of the work were used, as well as a study of the female presence within the Tukano people, which demonstrates and justifies the cosmovision represented by Daiara in her work. In these analyses, was sought to bring and highlight the speeches of the indigenous people themselves, in order to democratize and decolonize academic discussions about works of art produced by indigenous artists. Finally, it was defined that the work of Daiara Tukano can be framed within the Decolonial Aesthetics, since it is made in the context of a contemporary art that seeks to detach artistic creation from eurocentric standards. The work accompanies a female role in the production and representation of contemporary art and opens up margins for the demarcation of spaces for indigenous artists, highlighting the importance that they themselves can question and break subordinating stereotypes constructed by coloniality.
