O PONTO DE VISTA GUARANI E DE OUTROS POVOS AMERÍNDIOS SOBRE A ORIGEM DA LUA, AS CONSTELAÇÕES E O SACI-PERERÊ (SEGUNDA PARTE)

Abstract

Saci-Pererê is such an incredible character. The South American indigenous people´s contribution to the social construction of this being ‒ JaxyJaterê, Matitaperê, Xaxim-Tarerê, Yasy-yateré, Kambá’í, Saci-ave, Matinta-Perera, amongst other names, is paradigmatic and thought provoking. The present study un folds in two parts. It focuses on texts about Saci which have been published in mythology, South American indigenous ethnology and cultural astronomy. All texts analysed based on Afro-Americans and South American indigenous peoples´s oral and written narratives (Tupiniquim, Tupinambá, Kayowa, Taurepang, Surui-Paiter, and particularly, Mbyáand Chiripa). In the first section of this article, which you read in the previous publication Revista Espaço Ameríndio, the aims were the following: i have focused on black Saci and indigenous one to introduce the different types of Saci that live in South American cultural tradition and in other continents. I have attempted to  demonstrate the relevance of mythology as a theoretical and methodological tool to translate these characters; besides putting together ethnological data about the Guarani; revealing the relation between Saci and the origin of the moon, and  introducing the tupi-guarani constellations. In this second section of the article, the paper you are reading now, the aims are to focuson the relevance of Saci and other legless characters, beyond the reasons for having him portrayed with one of his legs cut; starting from the Guarani category já (the owner, the master), to demonstre the link between the divine characters Ñanderú, Tupãkuéry, Karaí, Kuaray and Jaxy with the plants, animals, Saci-Pererê and Curupira; to finally, uncover connections between Saci-Pererê and the afro-indigenous category.
