Abstract

Abstract: This paper seeks to engage in dialogue with some anthropological frameworks on technique and the tradition of knowledge, in an attempt to link these concepts to capoeira angola. This tradition of knowledge is a struggle that arose in Brazil through the slave trade, in which thousands of Africans were brought to Brazil as slaves. I therefore seek, at first, to present some notions of the Anthropology of Technique, linking them later to studies on knowledge traditions and the ways in which they are transacted, thus combining body techniques, gestures and the figurative aesthetics developed by this tradition, which is how it specifies itself. Necessary for this intent were the introduction of various notions that will seek to give body to the argument, combining power, environment, context, relationship and acquisition of skill. That is why I use ethnography and autoethnography, in order to understand experientially, in training environments, how skills are acquired and body techniques are improved. It is in this internal environment of practice that the skill is refined and its functional aesthetics formed procedurally.
