A Violência Enquanto Fenômeno Social: As Mortes Reais e Simbólicas dos Jovens da Periferia

Resumo

Esse artigo discute alguns elementos relacionados à violência letal que vem se configurando como uma das principais causas de morte de jovens no Brasil. São apresentados inicialmente dados estatísticos oficiais acerca das práticas de violência que incidem sobre a população jovem brasileira. Posteriormente, discute-se conceitualmente a questão da violência, bem como algumas estratégias discursivas que, historicamente, acabam por legitimar práticas violentas e estigmatização de certas populações no cenário brasileiro, associando a juventude das classes populares a signos de risco, perigo e suspeição. A partir das discussões apresentadas é possível perceber que a violência letal tem sido endereçada, principalmente, à juventude pobre, negra e habitante de territórios considerados periféricos em relação aos centros urbanos. Cabe sinalizar, que o homicídio se configura como o extremo de uma série de violências, experiências cotidianas de mortes simbólicas e reais que marcam esses corpos e os tornam vidas matáveis, sendo que em relação a essas vidas que não merecem viver, não haveria o que lamentar.

Violence as a social phenomenon: the deaths real and symbolic of the young of the periphery

Abstract

This article discusses some elements related to the lethal violence that has been setting up as one of the main causes of death of young people in Brazil. Are submitted initially, official statistics about the practices of violence that affect the young population in brazil. Subsequently, we discuss conceptually the issue of violence, as well as some of the discourse strategies that, historically, end up by legitimizing practices violent and stigmatization of certain populations in the brazilian scenario, associating the youth of the popular classes the signs of risk, danger and suspicion. from the discussions presented, it is possible to realize that lethal violence has been addressed mainly to the youth, poor, black and living in areas considered peripheral in relation to the urban centres. It is worth to indicate that the homicide itself as the extreme of a series of acts of violence, everyday experiences of deaths, symbolic and real, that mark these bodies and make them lives matáveis, and in relation to those lives that do not deserve to live, there would be no regrets
