Ambiguidades do multiculturalismo no Brasil: diálogos entre negros e judeus

Resumo

O objetivo desse artigo é entender como os judeus brasileiros estão traduzindo um novo cenário de debate sobre raças em curso no Brasil e explorar a hipótese de que, no presente contexto de valorização e promoção da “raça” negra, os judeus experimentam uma curiosa ambivalência: quanto mais eles lutam pela consolidação de uma sociedade etnicamente plural e tolerante, tanto mais eles podem ser identificados como pertencentes à “raça” branca.

Ambiguities of multiculturalism in Brazil: dialogues between Blacks and Jews - Abstract: The aim of this article is both to understand how Brazilian Jews are translating a new frame of debate about race in course in the country and to explore the hypothesis that, in the present context of promotion of the Black“race”, Jews experience a curious ambivalence: the more they struggle for the consolidation of an ethnically plural and tolerant society, the more they are identified as belonging to the white “race”.
