A bondade entre a barbárie nos testemunhos do Holocausto
Resumo
Neste artigo objetiva-se investigar a bondade a partir da literatura do Holocausto, a fim de, primeiramente, resgatar, de forma sistemática, episódios nos quais homens e mulheres, não judeus, ajudaram a salvar judeus do extermínio nazista; e, posteriormente, argumentar que a bondade constitui-se como elemento essencial para compreensão da condição humana. Tendo esta finalidade, buscou-se, nos estudos sobre testemunho, o esclarecimento acerca da categoria testemunho e uma compreensão ética do Holocausto como singularidade universal. Ademais, os diários, autobiografias, cartas e outros textos, escritos pelos sobreviventes, foram assumidos como os dados empíricos sobre os quais o presente estudo foi alicerçado. Argumenta-se que o compromisso com a memória da bondade em meio à barbárie pode ajudar o homem (e as gerações novas e futuras) a resistir às políticas de separação e qualificação, pautadas na competição e inimizade, prevenindo assim novos Holocaustos e a Shoah, assim como a salvar no homem a ideia da condição humana como abertura e responsabilidade pelo Outro.
Kindness between the barbarisms in Holocaust testimonies - Abstract: The main purpose of this article is to investigate the acts of kindness registered in the Holocaust literature in order to, firstly, rescue systematically episodes in which non-Jews helped to save Jews from Nazi extermination; and then argue that acts of kindness constitute an essential element for the understanding of the human condition. With this purpose, the research sought in studies on testimony the clarification about the witness category and an ethical understanding of the Holocaust as a universal singularity. Moreover, diaries, autobiographies, letters and other texts written by survivors were assumed to be the empirical data on which this study was founded. It is argued that the commitment to the memory of goodness in the midst of barbarism can help man (and the new and future generations) to resist the separation and qualification policies, guided by the competition and enmity, thereby preventing new Holocaust and Shoah, as well as to save the idea of the human condition as an openness and accountability by the Other.
