Uma imigração judaica permeada por centauros, índios cavaleiros e índios a pé; Leitura do romance ‘O Centauro no jardim’ de Moacyr Scliar
Resumo
Apoiando-se particularmente no romance O Centauro no Jardim (1980) de Moacyr Scliar, o presente artigo analisa como o escritor gaúcho procede ao resgate da representação do indígena no discurso contemporâneo. Deste modo, o artigo investiga, num primeiro momento, o passado dos charruas, articulando-o com o contexto da imigração judaica e com a simbologia do cavalo no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Num segundo momento, o texto estabelece uma comparação entre o personagem literário romântico Peri, de José de Alencar, e o Peri scliarino, buscando pôr em destaque algumas estratégias póscoloniais como a dessacralização do mito romântico e a fragmentação do sujeito indígena atual.
A Jewish immigration populated by centaurs, horse-riding Indians and walking Indians; An interpretation of the novel ‘The centaur in the garden’, by Moacyr Scliar - Abstract: Based particularly on the novel O Centauro no Jardim (1980) [The Centaur in the Garden] by Moacyr Scliar, the present study analyses how the gaúcho author recovers the representation of Indians in contemporary discourse. Thus, this article investigates, firstly, the Charruas past, articulating it within the context of the Jewish immigration and according to the symbolism of the horse in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Secondly, this article establishes a comparison between José de Alencar’s romantic literary character Peri and the Scliarino Peri, emphasizing some post-colonial strategies such as the desacralization of the romantic myth and the fragmentation of the current Indian subject.
