Judaísmo e ruptura em Walter Benjamin
Resumo
O artigo busca realizar uma análise da obra de Walter Benjamin a partir do judaísmo, observando de que maneira fundamentos religiosos, teológicos e culturais dessa tradição tornaram-se marcas em seus escritos. Em especial, observa-se sua compreensão messiânica do devir histórico, uma visão original que relaciona elementos teológicos e materialismo histórico, revolução e messianismo, perspectivas singulares sobre a história e o tempo. O artigo também procura relacionar os fundamentos da tradição judaica quanto à utilização de imagens com os escritos de Benjamin, no que diz respeito à linguagem e apreensão por parte de Benjamin.
Judaism and Disruption in Walter Benjamin’s Work - Abstract: The present article aims to provide an analysis of Walter Benjamin’s work from the angle of its connection with Judaism, by examining how the underlining religious, theological and cultural fundamentals of Jewish tradition mark his work. The examination has its emphasis on Benjamin’s view of the role of the Messiah in history, in the unique vision through which the scholar relates theological elements to historical materialism, revolution to Messianism, and singular perspectives of history and time. The article also seeks to relate the imagery of Jewish tradition with Benjamin’s writing, regarding language and comprehension.
