Espaços de abertura no shtetl brasileiro de Moacyr Scliar: uma leitura de "A Guerra no Bom Fim"
Resumo
A temática da imigração judaica no Rio Grande do Sul está presente em diversos contos e romances do escritor Moacyr Scliar (1937-2011). No bairro do Bom fim, em Porto Alegre, os imigrantes reproduzem o estilo de vida dos shtelekh, as aldeias judaicas do Leste Europeu onde viviam antes de emigrar. Scliar também mostra uma abertura em relação ao país de adoção. Seu primeiro romance, A Guerra no Bom Fim (1972), revela esse processo de negociação identitária tanto pelas situações alegóricas quanto pela descrição do cotidiano. Esse artigo concentra-se nas situações de abertura, em que os personagens ultrapassam as fronteiras do bairro étnico ou em que as culturas judaica e brasileira encontram-se.
Situations of openness in the Brazilian shtetl of Moacyr Scliar: an analysis of “The war in Bom Fim” - Abstract: The writer Moacyr Scliar (1937-2011) follows the course of the Jewish immigration to Rio Grande do Sul in several short stories and novels. In the Bom Fim neighborhood, in Porto Alegre, immigrants reproduce the lifestyle of shtelekh, the Jewish villages from Eastern Europe where they lived before emigrating. Scliar also shows an openness to the adopted country. His first novel, A Guerra no Bom Fim (The War in Bom Fim) (1972), reveals both through allegorical situations as well as through the everyday descriptions this process of identity negotiation. This article focuses on situations of openness, where the characters cross the boundaries of the ethnic neighborhood, or in situations which Jewish and Brazilian cultures meet.
