Isabel Múñoz, um retorno tardio ao judaísmo
Resumo
No século XX, diversos descendentes ou alegados descendentes de cristãos-novos resolveram ingressar no judaísmo. Neste trabalho, conto a história de Isabel Múñoz, nascida em 1908, cujo judaísmo foi aceito pelo Tribunal Rabínico de Rehovot, Israel, nos anos 1960, de acordo com as leis do “retorno”. Para reconstituir sua história, sigo a pista dos chuetas da ilha de Mallorca, mostrando, ao mesmo tempo, as dificuldades de resgatar documentos e relatos sobre esta personagem.Isabel Múñoz, a late return to Judaism - Abstract: In the 20th century, several descendants or alleged descendants of New Christians decided to become Jewish. In this paper, I tell the story of Isabel Múñoz, born in 1908, whose judaism was accepted by the Rabbinical Tribunal of Rehovot, Israel, in the 1960s, in accordance to the laws of “return”. To reconstruct her story, I track down the chuetas from Mallorca Island, and demostrate, at the same time, the difficulties of recovering documents and narratives about this person.
