Reflecting about the concept of citizenship in mental health services

Abstract

The objective of this study was to consider the concept of citizenship within the mental health services of the Brazilian Public Health System. A brief summary was made of the current and pending legislation that controls the mental health services. The authors also discussed about how citizenship is practiced within the mental health services, including the role of health workers that deal with mentally ill persons.
