Abstract

This paper reports the set of activities performed by the Lactation Consultant Nurse in an University Hospital on the occasion of “Baby Friendly Hospital” implantation initiative. This professional is prepared to prevent, recognize and solve difficulties belonging to the binomy mother-baby concerning to breastfeeding. The main occupation of the Lactation Consultant Nurse is to assemble the different activities which involve the Institution, its staff and the users in behalf of breastfeeding, developing assistance, educational and administrative activities that intends to attend the “Ten steps for successful breastfeeding” preconized by UNICEF and WHO.
