Interventions in the Public Space: performance, gaze, and the city
Keywords:
Urban Performance, City, Gaze, Public Space, InterventionAbstract
This article is based on the following assumption: to be or not to be on the stage. However, if the stage is real life, part of a public space, this situation is a very complex one. Thus, everyday urban life becomes an artistic and performance event. In this way, citizens become active spectators. Urban interventions change the usual way of regarding the city, and propose a blurs the line between the roles of the person who looks and the person who acts. The example to discuss this game of presences will be A veces creo que te veo (Sometimes I think I can see you), a performance work done in Buenos Aires by Mariano Pensotti, in 2010.
