A revista Fotocronografias em sua 25º edição traz como temática os inventários, os catálogos, as coleções e as enciclopédias, todos entendidos como elementos de tentativas de ordenar e organizar o mundo. Mapas multidimensionais, de tempo e espaço, das experiências e “encontros” dos seres caminhantes e exploradores da vida cotidiana nas/das cidades contemporâneas. O convite feito pelos editores ao Estudio Ceda el paso continha uma provocação irrecusável: atrelar importantes eixos de atuação do estúdio: o caminhar como prática e método, a materialização física e subjetiva do espaço urbano e dos citadinos que a vivenciam, tanto na perspectiva das leituras urbanas provenientes da Arquitetura, quanto daquelas leituras feitas em campo, implicadas no cotidiano de diferentes territorialidades, a fim de aproximar-se das práticas, dinâmicas, redes, trajetórias de vida e sociabilidades desses múltiplos atores sociais via ferramentas provenientes do fazer antropológico. As listas e agrupamentos catalográficos resultados dessa postura ao encarar o espaço urbano contemporâneo, complexo e multifacetado, se configuram como elementos indiciais, vestígios que indicam e apontam possibilidades de compreensão de nossa presença e relação com o mundo.

Ephemeral Archaeologies

In the critical essay “Ephemeral Archaeologies”, produced in the context of the Trauma exhibition in 2018, Nathalia Lavigne analyzes images of stalled infrastructure works carried out by Ivan Padovani in São Paulo — an almost standard landscape in the city, especially in the last few years leading up to the urban transformations promised for the 2014 World Cup. However, by isolating these concrete blocks and metal beams from any other reference, the structures take on the appearance of monuments, evoking an ideal of transformation that seems to have been put on hold. The text highlights issues such as a state of permanent suspension in these images, evoking a present that repeats itself in the form of monotonous concrete beams and the prelude to an imposing, ambitious, promising future, but which has not arrived and no one knows when it will.

The methodology used is walking combined with photography, graphic printing techniques and the principle of montage as a method of knowledge and creative process.

One of these elements, the subject of this essay, are the mailboxes present in most homes around the world. Their presence on gates, doors and facades – as well as their absence – mark the processes of development and modification of urban habits and transformation in city life.

In this essay, I present a list of yellow things in the late afternoon. These are photographs I took in Curitiba during the winter while walking around the city with my baby. In this proposal of walking, carrying, capturing, and collecting, I highlight how a photographic list can break the monotony of everyday life and challenge the constraints of urban space.

This essay comprises photographs and notes from a mother walking with her daughter, who is only five months old. The images and texts, often created with Clarice in her arms, were made via cell phone during journeys through the streets of Atibaia, a city in the countryside of São Paulo state where they live.

Este catálogo -que surge de paseos durante mi trabajo de campo etnográfico- presenta casa-carcasa , demoliciones y escombros en un intento de abordar la cuestión del movimiento como un proceso conmovedor y agotador; que implica múltiples esfuerzos y afectos; que recrea un paisaje de imágenes y sonidos que no pasan desapercibidos para ningún transeúnte.

What you feel on a short walk around the rectory of the Federal University of Paraíba is a hostile architectural space. There are hardly any people in a state of pause, leisure or contemplation. This essay presents a collection of images of invading leaves that reveal a vegetal landscape that drives the question that titles this essay. The landscapes, considered here as passages, occupy a wall piercing the sensitisations for this writing with vegetal existences.
