This article aims at discussing the dynamics of the distribution of the languages of the curricular component Arts, with special attention to Drama, by the public management of the city of Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul. It all starts with the analysis of the nominations of the last public tender for teachers, in the year of 2019, notice 133/19, according to the Law of Directives and Bases of Education 9394/96, National Common Curriculum Base and the Municipal Guiding Document. Based on a reflection about the teaching of Arts in Basic Education and the meanings of the teaching of Drama at school, we question the possible reasons to continue the discredit concerning the subject Arts and, mainly, the specific situation of disparity between the nominations of the qualified professionals in the different artistic segments. The text ends pointing out the need to resize, redimensionar, in contemporaneity, the focus of public policies aimed at Education concerning the understanding of the Arts component and, specially, for the potential of the theatrical language at school.
