A PESTE DA LINGUAGEM E OUTRAS PESTES NO BRASIL DO SÉCULO XXI
Resumo
Resumo: Partindo do artigo “De Italo Calvino a Ricardo Piglia, do centro para a margem: o deslocamento como proposta para a literatura deste milênio”, de Renato Cordeiro Gomes, e tendo em vista o número significativo de obras literárias e cinematográficas latino-americanas das duas primeiras décadas do século XXI que tematizam o passado histórico, concentrando-se em acontecimentos coletivos traumáticos, o texto propõe uma reflexão sobre as relações entre ficção e política. Retoma-se o que Calvino chamou de “peste da linguagem” – ou seja, a proliferação excessiva, na cultura midiática, de mensagens estereotipadas que geram a perda da força cognitiva e expressiva das palavras – para pensar esse retorno ao passado como parte de uma luta travada, no campo da arte, contra o esquecimento.

Abstract: Starting from the article “From Italo Calvino to Ricardo Piglia, from the center to the margins: displacement as a proposal for the literature of this millennium”, by Renato Cordeiro Gomes, and in view of the significant number of Latin American literary and cinematographic works of the two first decades of the 21st century that thematize the historical past, focusing on collective traumatic events, the text proposes a reflection on the relationship between fiction and politics. We return to what Calvino called the “language plague”, that is, the excessive proliferation, in the media culture, of stereotyped messages that generate the loss of the cognitive and expressive force of words, to think of this return to the past as part of a struggle waged, in the field of art, against oblivion.
