A CIDADE PELA JANELA

Abstract

Resumo: Em homenagem a Renato Cordeiro Gomes. Em seu renomado livro Todas as Cidades, a Cidade, Renato Cordeiro Gomes, partindo de um olhar poético sobre a cidade, nos mostra que “o campo de visão limita-se ao eu investido de nostalgia, que tenta reelaborar as perdas dos lugares afetivos que a cidade corroeu.” Inspirada por esta reflexão, lemos o último livro do escritor Sérgio Sant’Anna A Dama de Branco, publicado depois de sua morte. Com foco na narrativa que dá nome ao volume, escrita durante a pandemia de coronavirus que matou o autor, conferimos como a memória e os afetos são acionados nessa visão distante e ameaçada da cidade.

Abstract: In memory of Renato Cordeiro Gomes.In his renowned book All Cities, The City, Renato Cordeiro Gomes, starting from a poetic gaze on the city, shows us that “the field of vision is limited to a self invested in nostalgia, which aims to rework the losses of the affective locations that the city has corroded.” Inspired by this insight, we offer a reading of The Lady in White, the last book by Sérgio Sant’Anna, which was published posthumously. Focusing on the narrative that lends the volume its title, written during the coronavirus pandemic that killed the author, we see how memory and affections are triggered in this distant and threatened vision of the city.
