This study presents some of the political developments and factionalism in the indigenous territory, with the locus of the research being the newly formed Xukuru-Kariri Cristo do Goití Village, located in the Goití Mountains, in Palmeira dos Índios/AL. The aim is to contribute to indigenous historiography by including the mentioned village in current discussions in various fields of local, cultural, and oral history, and to provide visibility for the current mobilizations and claims of the said people. Additionally, we seek to understand how the territory translates into multiple concepts and how these are embedded in religious scope and everyday customs. As methodology, we employed field research, utilizing observation, photography production, and recorded interviews with residents and political and religious leaders of the mentioned village, as well as with indigenous people living outside the village, residents of Palmeira dos Índios, who assisted us in the production of this study. The theoretical discussion is grounded in the assumptions of scholars such as Alberti (2005), Antunes (1973), Haesbaert (2004); (2007), Peixoto (2021); (2023), Raffestin (1993); (2012).
