A hipertensão arterial sistêmica (HAS) é uma condição clínica multifatorial caracterizada por níveis elevados e sustentados de pressão arterial (PA). 1 O paciente é considerado hipertenso quando a pressão sistólica é ≥ 140 mmHg e a diastólica é ≥ 90 mmHg em três aferições. 1-5
Embora o tratamento adequado seja importante para o controle da HAS, a prevenção se destaca, especialmente nos pacientes de risco. 5-9
