Abstract

São apresentados os gastos médico-hospitalares das internações em acidentes de trânsito pelo Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) na região metropolitana de Porto Alegre/RS no período de 1998 a 2003. Foram encontradas 21.094 internações. Do total de US$ 6.528.904,43 pagos, 59% foram referentes a serviços hospitalares (US$ 3.863.381,81), 15% a serviços profissionais (US$ 1.002.856,85), 13% a órteses e próteses (US$ 860.841,73), 8% a Serviços de Apoio à Diagnose e Terapia (SADT) (US$ 548.464,14) e 4% a sangue (US$ 249.577,24). Os valores pagos para recém-nascido (US$ 11,37) e transplantes (US$ 3.771,29) não obtiveram representação percentual relevante na composição dos valores. O total pago em Unidade de Terapia Intensiva (UTI) foi de US$ 799.523,18. Concluiu-se que os valores pagos estão concentrados em indivíduos do sexo masculino, na faixa etária dos 10 aos 39 anos, em hospitais universitários, e que as internações que evoluíram ao óbito apresentam maior gasto médio, justificado pela retirada de órgãos para transplante.
