2018-03-21

The period for submitting articles to the dossier "The practices of power in Middle Ages and its representations: new borders, new meanings", to be published in the July 2019 issue of Anos 90, is open until November 1st, 2018.

This dossier will intend to contemplate medieval researches dedicates of Medieval History based on actuals historiographic problems and on questions about the writing the History in that period, the relation of power, justice, and political history. The proposed dossier aims to expand the visibility of Latin American historiographic production in the field of medieval studies. It has, therefore, the intention of receiving contributions from researchers connected with institutes of Latin America that are dedicated to the theme in its different historiographic approaches.

The dossier, titled "The practices of power in Middle Ages and its representations: new borders, new meanings", is a proposal of the RED/e, a Latin American network of Medieval Studies, which brings together historians from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica and Mexico. The proposal justification is based on the fact that, in the last two decades, it is possible to perceive a substantial growth of the research in History of Middle Ages. Beyond this quantitative growth, it’s possible to perceive a diversity and originality at the historiographic, thematic, and conceptual approaches of these works, strengthening this area of research among non-European historians.

Thus, this proposal has a potential for broad participation of researchers from outside Brazil, which is in accordance with the inherent proposal of the Anos 90 and PPG in History of UFRGS with regard to internationalization of research produced in Brazil and recognition of Brazilian academic spaces as important spaces for the production of knowledge in Latin America.
