By arguing that Jean Phillippe Rameau’s (1683-1764) rethrocial resources and Cartesian devices cannot be disentangled from the language and cultural milieu by which his discourse is articulated, the author argues that, as for the music, theorists nowadays, the discipline depends on a culturally resonant language for its effectiveness and communication.Downloads
